Project Overview
The Product
New Promotions Functionalities for NCE products is one of the feature enhancement projects for the StreamOne® platform, which integrates cloud products and services to simplify provisioning, billing, and control. These enhancements enable partners to efficiently manage cloud account usage, costs, and analytics from a centralized location. Additionally, the project includes streamlining operations and improving user experience.
Project Duration
September 2024 – December 2024
The Problem
StreamOne Ion currently supports Microsoft’s promotions as part of its reporting feature, capturing subscriptions that include promotions. However, as Microsoft introduces increasingly complex promotions, we are nearing a critical point where maintaining a positive experience for our Partner base will be challenging without this functionality.
The Goal
The goal is to enhance StreamOne Ion’s reporting feature by supporting the increasing complexity of Microsoft’s promotions, ensuring seamless subscription management, and maintaining an optimal user experience for our Partner base.
We want to achieve the bullet points listed below;
- Be able to see if a given Microsoft product could have a promotion on the product listing before adding it to the cart.
- During checkout, an optional validation step to validate if the customer is eligible for the promotion pricing.
- If the customer is eligible for promo pricing, the price shown in the UI should reflect this dynamically.
My Role
UX Lead – Gonca Onusluel Hepekiz
Responsibilities
Collaborating closely with the feature’s product manager and developers, responsibilities include creating paper and digital wireframes, designing low- and high-fidelity prototypes, ensuring accessibility standards, and iterating on designs to refine user experiences.
Understanding the Feature and the workflow
The current experience
Microsoft controls promotions and their rules. Currently, the products listed at Marketplace have no visual indicators that show promotion eligibility. This lack of experience also affects product details and cart view. Also, during the purchasing phase, no information was given to the user as to why the price varies after receiving the order.
concept exploration
I began by analyzing the current experience and capturing screenshots to replicate the user flows. Next, I identified key pain points and areas for improvement. To kickstart the ideation process, I created paper wireframes to present initial concepts and facilitate discussions.

the solution
To address this, promotion-eligible products are tagged to inform users before adding them to the cart. In the cart view, users can see if they’ve added promotion-eligible products, with guided modals providing clear instructions on the next steps. This ensures effective communication and a seamless purchase experience.
